El SEO fue durante años la ansiada arca de la alianza del marketing y todas las marcas y anunciantes acudieron a expertos para mejorar el tráfico de sus portales corporativos y mantenerse cerca de los clientes.
La primera razón por la cual el SEO ya no importa tanto es que los anunciantes conscientes de la nueva forma de funcionar que tiene internet ya se han pasado a Facebook, que con sus 500 millones de usuarios se está convirtiendo en un agente importante a la hora de distribuir el tráfico.
En segundo lugar el resto de las redes sociales y las estrategias de comunicación 2.0 determinan que los anunciantes pioneros utilicen los botones agregados a las plataformas para anunciarse, de forma que son los mismos usuarios los que evangelizan sobre la marca “retwiteando” una entrada o declarando que les gusta.
También influye en el decaimiento del SEO que la mejora de los algoritmos y también de las habilidades de búsqueda de los clientes hagan menos notorias las triquiñuelas de los anunciantes para posicionarse.
Por último las marcas que desean conservar su presencia en internet deben saber que las grandes multinacionales todavía deben aferrarse al SEO, ya que la impersonalidad de las web corporativas aún funciona en estos casos.
Por último destacar los por ahora, inútiles intentos por parte de google de reconquistar el terreno perdido, con sus nuevos algoritmos de búsqueda y clasificación llamados Caffeine.
La guerra continua pero desde luego algo está cambiando en el monopolio de Internet, Google ha subestimado el poder de las redes sociales.
